The tension between us grew until it beca to watch the driver of the car pull my suitcase from the trunk I would have offered to help, but I doubted he’d letclue what to pack for this trip, and when I’d told Vance, he’d said not to worry He’d handle it

I jammed my hands into the pockets of my jacket and tried not to look aard as Vance finished his call

“I don’t know, Royce” His tone was sharp with irritation “Probably when I get back Look, I need to go Emery’s here” He paused as he listened to his older brother, then pressed a hand to his chest and grinned “I had no idea you cared so much about my love life I’m touched”

Once he said goodbye, he slipped his phone into the back pocket of his jeans and strolled toward me

“Wow, you look hideous”

I froze “What?”

Breath hung in s, but I had no idea if the cause hat he’d just said, or how he leaned in and brushed a kiss on my cheek The warhtened away fro a playfully stern look

“You’re going to have to do better than that to convince people you like ht?”

I resisted the urge to touch the spot on my cheek that continued to heat from the presence of him “You just told me I look hideous”

His smile was full of sin “Yeah, because I’m not allowed to say you look hot” He jerked his head toward the stairs of the plane “Coain once we’re on our way”
