“I can’t believeBut it ain’t like they’re roughing it in Grandpa and Grand and satellite TV”
“At least if they’re around a lake Carolyn can toss them in the water so she won’t hafta put up with their stinky selves in a suys head on into the family room I’ll dish up cake after you’re done watchin’ the rides”
Chase tried not to wince as he rose to his feet He plopped on the closest easy chair, but didn’t relax, fearing hisup
Cash popped in the DVD “Let’s have a look-see”
The rides were painful to watch Not because of the reminder of physical pain, but because it looked as if Chase McKay had never ridden a bull
After they watched all the short test rides, Cash inserted the disk with Chase’s winning rides, or at least the rides he’d ht seconds
He listened as Colby and Cash discussed everything, froht and position of his ar technique, to his initial seat on the bull Chase didn’t coht’ve done in the past, but listened
Then they started the disk froain
Ryder raced in and dropped at Chase’s feet The kid didn’t utter a peep; his focus was entirely on the successful rides Cash switched out the disks to Chase’s attempts today
About bull fifteen, Ryder piped up “Dad? Can I ask soht in line like the right one? It kinda hangs over his leg”
Chase looked at the kid and then at the TV “Rewind that” Sure enough, Chase noticed the discrepancy io back and watch the disk where I actually rode some bulls?”
Cash swapped out the disks Low and behold, Chase’s shoulders were straight
Colby said, “I’ll be daood place to start” He grinned at Ryder “Gib’ll be fit to be tied when I tell hiht that He’ll probably want us to start taping him so he can watch for mistakes in his ridin’”
“What onna be world champion one day” He looked up at Chase with pure hero worship “After you win the world title a coupla times”
“I sure hope so”
Colby pushed up froshit “Okay Why?”
“I’d like to get you on that mechanical bull while this is fresh in my mind”
When Chase didn’t respond, Cash said, “Unless you’re too sore We can do it in the azefaoddamn bad he hurt He withheld a wince as he eased out of the chair “I’ht need a shot or two of whiskey afterward”
“I figure we all will”
Gemma leaned in the doorway “So I should wait on the cake?”
“I’est piece for his help,” Chase said
She s son “I’ll have a cowboy-sized slice ready when you get back”
