&039;Still don&039;t understand you,&039; Doreen ad?&039;
Bushell rubbed his tired eyes and explained
&039;I don&039;t want to keep struggling and fighting forever,&039; he said sadly, &039;and I don&039;t think any of you do either If I&039;s happen naturally I don&039;t think ere supposed to survive So while I don&039;t relish the idea of letting those things out there tear me limb from limb, I&039;m not too bothered if I die&039;
&039;But that&039;s&039; Proctor was about to protest
&039;It&039;s not normal,&039; Bushell interrupted &039;It&039;s not what any of you were expecting rahting and keep struggling All I&039; is that there&039;s no point anymore Just sit back and relax and let nature take it&039;s course&039;
More silence
&039;No,&039; Wilcox said suddenly
&039;What?&039;
&039;I said no,&039; he repeated &039;No way a to sit here and wait to die Absolutely no way There must be more we can do&039;
&039;I&039;m with you,&039; Paul Jones said, similarly unimpressed by Bushell&039;s words Proctor looked up in surprise at Jones&039; sudden allegiance to the other e how their apparent dislike and distrust of each other had iainst the wall
&039;So what do we do?&039; asked Elizabeth
That was the million dollar question that no-one could immediately answer A heavy and ominous silence descended on the room as the six individuals quietly considered their limited options and the apparent hopelessness of their situation
&039;Exactly how full of bodies is this place?&039; Jones asked
&039;They&039;re almost up to the twenty-fourth floor, I told you that a fewto&039; Proctor answered before being interrupted
&039;No, you told us how far up the staircase they&039;ve et, you didn&039;t tell us how full of bodies the building is&039;
Proctor struggled to see the difference He wasn&039;t alone
&039;So what are you saying?&039; Elizabeth wondered
Jones shook his head Christ, these people annoyed him More to the point he was annoyed with hiht of this before?&039;
&039;A couple ofout of here, weren&039;t we?&039; &039;Yes&039;
&039;So hoas Bushell talking about getting out?&039;
&039;Do you always answer questions with questions?&039; she snapped
&039;Do you?&039; he replied infuriatingly before re-phrasing and asking his previous question again &039;There&039;s another way out of here, isn&039;t there?&039;
&039;The fire escape,&039; Bushell eventually answered
&039;Which is still clear, correct?&039;
&039;As far as we know,&039; he stammered &039;Why, what&039;s your point?&039;
&039;Is the fire escape anywhere near the main staircase?&039;
&039;Of course not,&039; Proctor answered quickly &039;What would be the point of that? The fire escape needs to be on the other side of the building so that&039;
&039;Exactly&039;
&039;So what&039;s your point?&039; Elizabeth sighed, confused and tired and unable to follow the rapidly changing direction of the conversation
&039;What I&039;ives us a way ofthat&039;s well away from the main staircase where we think the bodies are&039;
&039;And there&039;s a good chance the bodies are still only on the staircase,&039; Wilcox continued, taking over from the other man &039;Which o onto the floors and into the rooms&039;
&039;What&039;s the layout of a typical floor?&039; Jones asked
Bushell thought for a second before answering
&039;Just one U-shaped corridor,&039; he shrugged &039;Staircase in the middle, fire escape at either end I think&039;
&039;And when you first set yourself up here, did you clear the place out?&039;
