It&039;s eleven o&039;clock and Lizzie, Harry and the kids are sitting in the living roo outside The others haven&039;t noticed yet I don&039;t want the children and Liz getting upset again so I haven&039;t said anything to anyone It started about half an hour ago I&039;ve heard heavy vehiclesin the distance and the occasional screaunfire

I&039;ve tried looking through everyin the flat but I can&039;t see what&039;s going on out there I have to know I make sure the others are all distracted then creep out of the apart looks just as it did when I was out here yesterday but today the building feels different because of what&039;s upstairs I stop at the bottom of the staircase and, just for a second, I think about turning round and going back into the flat again I&039;ll get a better view frooing upstairs I don&039;t think there&039;s anyone else up there - the car belonging to the people on the top floor is stillBut what about the body? I know the ot the balls to pass his corpse? My head is suddenly filled with stupid nightrab un shot in the distance spurs me into action I take a deep breath and run up the stairs, not stopping until I&039;ve reached the flat on the top floor I peer in through the half-open door to make sure it&039;s still empty then step inside

There are only two floors between our flat and this one but the view from up here is coht make all the difference and from here I can see for miles around I can see almost all of our estate and I can see the city centre in the distance This ets sent horey Dirty, thick s fros There&039;s nothing much left of the medical centre on Colville Way The streets are deserted

How am I supposed to protectal I can do to stop it I think of the kids downstairs and I feel terrified and helpless They&039;re depending on me and I don&039;t knohat I can do to keep them safe

I can see movement in the distance now Can&039;t see exactly what it is frorab the video camera I sahen I was up here yesterday Christ knohat the ot no interest in finding out I take the camera over to theand switch it on There&039;s hardly any battery power left I find the zoom lens control and set it so that it&039;s focussed as far as possible into the distance It takes ht direction and to relocate the movement I&039;ve just seen

I think I&039; at the area around Marsh Way but I&039; is, there are two large green-grey trucks driving along it On either side of the trucks are lines of unifor what looks like full battle gear They havetheir faces The trucks stop uards which surround theroups Some remain close to the back of the vehicles while others move towards the houses on either side of the road Frouess they&039;re all doing the sa It looks like a house-to-house inspection

The trooper at the front of the group ha to be invited inside Four of the soldiers in the group of five force their way into the house as soon as the door is opened The fifth unifor It&039;s difficult to keep the camera focussed from this distance and I can&039;t tell whether it&039;s a clipboard or one of those tablet co They all disappear into the building and I wait for thee And I wait And I wait

Elsewhere along the street the sa away fro each house in turn I look up from the video caht of &039;s happening again I squint as the sun breaks through the heavy cloud for the first time today and I can see at least twoother streets, all within a few hundred meters radius of each other I focus back on the house I was originally watching in Marsh Way as the five soldiers march back out and i next door, leaving a dazed and bewildered ed couple to timidly close their front door behind the over the town Strange Maybe they&039;re coordinating the round?

The soldiers I&039;ve been watching have forced their way into another house now They reappear in less than asomeone behind them I can&039;t make out whether it&039;s aall they can to get away I can see that it&039;s a woman now She&039;s only half-dressed They&039;ve turned her around and they&039;re hting As they push her towards the back of the vehicle she soes to free herself from the soldiers&039; hold She starts to run down the road and and now I can&039;t believe what I&039; One of the soldiers steps forward and raises his rifle Instead of chasing after her he simply shoots her in the back Two of them pick up the fallen body and throw it unceremoniously into the back of one of the trucks
